How to Dress Like Emma Stone

It would be sacrilegious to call Emma Stone the next Lindsay Lohan, although the comparisons are already rolling in. If you ask us, the only thing the two have in common is their fiery red locks. Unlike Lindsay, Emma is charming, hysterically funny and has a chic personal style. This week, for the Berlin premiere of her film, Easy A, Emma showed up wearing a Joie cropped leather jacket, sheer tank by L’Agence, a Sachin + Babi skirt and Brian Atwood suede pumps. Here’s how to get her fresh, flirty look for much less (and still look just as stylish).
The skirt
Emma’s mini features a geometric shape silk overlay. The unique print is difficult to mimic, but this blue watercolor print skirt comes close. Plus, it features a more conservative length (perfect for work), a flattering pleated waistline and drapey side pockets.
Above: Mod Cloth, Screen Printing Skirt, $63, available at Mod Cloth.
The top
There’s definitely no need for a sophisticated top here – the jacket will do all the talking on top. And the different blue hues of the tank and skirt add a stylish contrast. The ruffle neckline on this tank adds an extra flirty detail.
Above: Delia’s, Avery Ruffle Tank, $20, available at Delia’s.
The jacket
You can purchase the same leather jacket Emma is wearing, or you can save, oh, more than $600, by purchasing a faux leather version that is very similar in style. And the hardware details – zippers and snaps – give the jacket fun masculine touches, while the fitted, cropped shape maintains the overall feminine feel.
Above (from top): Joie, Johansson Lambskin Leather Jacket, $698, available at Nordstrom; Forever 21, Biker Inspired Jacket, $33, available at Forever 21.
The accessories
Emma opted for no accessories, but roll the sleeves up on the faux leather jacket and wear an oversized rose gold watch for a trendy, sophisticated hint of shine.
Above: Asos, Rose Gold Effect Retro Style Oversized Watch, $38, available at Asos.
The shoes
A pair of Brian Atwood’s will run you upwards of $600, but these taupe suede pumps are almost an exact copy (and for much less). They’ll do double duty, too, paired with skirts, skinny jeans and just about any outfit you want to dress up with a pair of sexy heels.
Above: Nine West, Ample pump, $89, available at Zappos.

Five fashion films every girl should own

Coco before Chanel
As one of the most influential women to ever walk across the earth, this film shows us the life of Gabrielle  before her rise to the heights of the fashion world. A must have for every Chanel fanatic.
The September Issue
One of the most interesting documentaries the fashion world has seen, The September Issue goes backstage at the VOGUE offices in America, and gives us meer mortals a sneak peak into the workings behind every magazine, featuring interviews with the likes of editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and fiery red-head Grace Coddington, as well as many more. A must have for every fashionista interested in fashion journalism and the world that surrounds it.
Lagerfeld Confidential
Similar to The September Issue, this film offers an up-close-and-personal portrait of one of the most influential men in fashion, Karl Lagerfeld. This documentary style production offers Chanel fans an intimate look at the work that goes on behind closed doors, and provides insightful interviews with Lagerfeld himself.
The Devil wears Prada
A true comedy classic. Inspired by the work of Miss Wintour, this light hearted film shows the stereotypical workings behind fashion journalism. The production follows a young, naive girl trying to make her way up the career ladder of journalism, whilst attempting to keep her social life separate as she works alongside the ruthless Miranda Priestly.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
A true classic. This romantic tale follows New York socialite, Holly Golightly and sees her becoming interested in a young man who has moved into her appartment building. Although not totally focussed on fashion, Holly’s sense of style and unique personality has inspired women across generations.

White Spaces with a Punch of Color

The Micheli Residence in Florence, by Italian architect Simone Micheli, pops with an unusual palette. In exception of a rare feature wall, the large white space finds color from its furniture of carnation pink and sunshine yellow, with a current of neon green and electric blue running through it. Interesting textures break up the fresh expanses, and tease us with the history of the building, as the shell of this ultra modern interior has stood since 1800; we see the original walls still proud, unplastered and simply painted, causing fantastic contrast to the dynamic slickness of contemporary additions.
The soft architectural shapes of the city residence are echoed with installations and accessories with rounded corners, and glossy surfaces smooth and reflect the bright lights. A mezzanine level oversees the open living area, where you might feel like a kid in a candy shop, sugared with marshmallow-like sofas and zingy citrus bars across the wall, which may prove a little too sweet on the tooth for some. A minimalistic white kitchen almost disappears into a white cove, maintaining an overall feeling of freedom and movement throughout the space, whilst backlit typographical elements adorn walls of bedrooms and a wetroom, adding personality to the places punch.
Is it possible to create a colorful home with only a white paint pot? You decide…

The Art Of Sloped Ceiling Spaces

Sloping ceilings in our homes are often viewed as an obstacle when we are designing our spaces, but what happens when you stop fighting against them, and work with them? Well, according to these images from L4 World, this is when the magic happens. These architectural visualizers have impressed us on many levels, even way up in the eaves, creating loft living like no other.
Unexpected architectural arches are used to both distract from, and compliment, the irregular space, drawing the eye up at the apartments highest point. Large windows follow the pitch of the roof, allowing natural light to pick up texture in exposed brickwork, and bounce back from polished wood floors. Clever standing lamps transform shaded corners into snug relaxation zones, and lighting tracks with movable cans ensure the unusual shape is illuminated practically. A palette of white pushes the walls out and allows them to become one with the ceiling, and interesting area rugs keep the eye low where needed. To create a perception of a much taller room, seating and shelving are also kept low level, allowing large pieces of artwork to dominate.
Living in an artist’s loft as beautiful as this, we could all find ourselves feeling a little more inspired.

Cool or Not Cool: The Smithsonian Selling Your Art Without Permission?

That's just what happened to Park Slope artist Margaret Bowland, whose oil painting was featured at a Smithsonian exhibition from March 2009-August 2010. The painting, titled "Kenyetta and Brianna," was given a People's Choice Award. At the end of the exhibit, the Smithsonian had difficulty contacting Bowland to let her know that she could retrieve her art. The New York Daily News explains:
"In the final weeks of the show, the Smithsonian sent two emails to Bowland about returning the painting, but the messages were sent to an old email address, according to the complaint filed in Brooklyn Federal Court."
When the museum couldn't get a hold of Bowland, they contacted the Klaudia Marr Gallery in New Mexico, where the Smithsonian initially discovered the painting. The gallery told the Smithsonian to ship the painting directly to David Naylor, an interior designer who paid $40,000 for the work. According to Bowland and her lawyer, the New Mexico gallery had no right to sell the painting, and the Smithsonian no right to ship it without her knowledge.
Here's my question: Couldn't the Smithsonian like, get Bowland's number from the New Mexico gallery owner? Didn't ANYONE have this chick's phone number? We're not talking about loaning your prized copy of Twilight here, this is a nationally recognized AWARD WINNING PAINTING.
The Klaudia Marr gallery has since closed, so Bowland is suing the man who purchased the painting. She told The Daily News that the price of $40,000 is a low-balled price: '"I worked like a dog on the painting and it is a big deal to me,' she said."
The Daily News doesn't mention if Bowland accepted the $40K or not, but if she has yet to cash that check, here's hoping she'll be able to get her artwork back.

Femme Fatales

I’m not up to date on my Cinemax TV shows, to be honest I didn’t know they had anything other than late night softcore porn on that thing, but apparently all these bikini babes are on something called Femmes Fatales. Now that I think of it, Femmes Fatales sounds like it could be softcore porn after all so I don’t know what the hell is going on. All I see are a bunch of chicks hanging out together in their bikinis and that’s good enough for me. Enjoy.

Kim Kardashian’s Big Beautiful

Here’s Kim Kardashian and her big beautiful booty all tarted up in a tight red dress outside the studios of Live with Regis & Kelly the other day. I’m not sure if her dress is see through or if the fabric is just so stretched out trying to contain that thing that it just looks see through. Either way, I like it. These two make a pretty good pair. I think Kelly could probably toss Kim around the sack with those muscular arms of hers. Would that be something I could watch? I’ve got cash.

Megan Fox Bikini Pictures

Holy crap! This is exactly what I needed to see today, actually this is what I need to see every day. Bear with me, I’m having trouble breathing. Anyone who thought that Megan Fox’s hotness was beginning to fade is out of their frickin’ mind. Here she is looking like a goddess emerging from the sea in her little black bikini. Civilizations build monuments to this kind of hotness. I can’t even put into words the feeling I have in my crotch right now, I’ve never experienced it before…. It’s like a team of coked up unicorns gangbanging a rainbow.
